Response to To much meditation ?

John N.,

Your point about overmeditating is well taken.

Although this problem happens less for NSR than for TM, due to our care in emphasizing 15 minutes per session, even with NSR there have been rare problem situations (one or two of which have been reported previously in this forum), in which there has been residual headache and other discomfort during daily life.

Transcending, although natural and enjoyable, is very powerful, and it is not usually a good idea to keep meditating past the end of a session and risk releasing stress faster than is comfortable.

There have been many postings here on this topic in the past, but it is always good to remind ourselves about this important point.

I hope that someday soon, with the coming much increased popularity of NSR Meditation, we will be able to offer weekend Residence Courses, which will allow people with stress release issues to get rid of the stresses once and for all in an appropriate protective environment.
