| Interesting personal observation...November 16 2008 at 11:10 AM | vincent (no login) | |
| I've been practising NSR for approx a year and a half - and looking back on it I have accomplished things in a much easier manner - as if I'm straining and trying less but getting more of my goals met in an almost effortless way.
A specific observation on my practice.. I was a little fixated on posture when I first started, having come from a bit of a zazen background. During the past year and a half I periodically tried performing NSR in seiza (kneeling position), and various cross legged poses intended to keep my back ramrod straight - convinced that posture was paramount in meditation.
Any time I was in these various postures when I got up from meditation I found that I was in a bit of an agitated excited state for the rest of the day - more physically energetic - but more mentally agitated and 'out of control'. I even bought a chair so that my back would remain ramrod straight.
Same thing.
When I went back to just sitting easily on my couch in the living room leaning my back against some cushions - I transcended much more effortlessly, and for the rest of the day I felt I was in a 'flow' state and very much calm and in control, creative and effortless.
This is just my own subjective experience of course.
