Kevin,
I hope you are still around and will read this someday. I've just reread this old thread and realize that I fell into the trap of labelling your experiences as stress release and suggesting that you continue like this. But after two years or more of losing consciousness in every meditation it is clear that you are stuck at this particular place.
I think beside listening to our body wanting to sleep, we should also listen to it responding to the Spring sunshine and wanting to get out and become more active.
It might be good for someone in your situation to add some gentle stretching exercises (or yoga asanas) for just a few minutes and very gentle breathing exercises (pranayama) working gradually up to two minutes or so before and after each meditation session. At first, this can be expected to begin to restore mental alertness after the session in daily life. But I hope it will also eventually help with the extreme mental dullness that makes you lose consciousness during meditation.
I hope this helps.
Also, if you never did have that phone consultation, you might consider it.
I'm here to work with anyone having problems until they are resolved.
