I am new to this type of meditation and I have never been on a blog like this so here we go!
First of all, one of you asked for recommendations about books dealing with TM and I decided to look into it too. I read Everything You Want to Know About TM, Including How to Do It by John White. I found that very informative and interesting. He gave a pretty well rounded picture of TM with scientific research as well as personal feelings about his experience. I also read Catching the Big Fish by David Lynch. I found it to be much more about film making than about meditation. What he did have to say about the meditation was interesting, but I could have condensed that book down to a few chapters as far as what I was interested in finding.
I've only been at this a couple of weeks but so far I am willing to keep showing up. At first my mantra was almost like a machine gun firing so fast. Now I can sit calmly and quietly and say it only once every other breath or so. I feel like I am becoming still and I am seeing the fruits of my meditation in that I am more focused. I intend to let God's power infuse my thoughts, my words and my actions. I find that during my day, I am able to remain quiet instead of blurting something out I might regret. I feel more patient and willing to take my time. So that is a great start.
I will keep innocently showing up and believing that God will be delighted to help me be the best I can be...for Him and for me and for everyone around me.
