newbie question on "returning to the syllable"September 18 2007 at 7:24 AM | David (no login) |
| I am working my way through the lessons and have enjoyed my experiences very much so far. I have had 2 sessions so far.
Today during my afternoon session, I experienced a few minor muscle spasms -- which I found interesting and exciting, since I read about involuntary muscle movements on the list of "possible" outcomes. Fun.
I am normally a very auditory person, I hear the sounds word make in my head (not just their meaning). Today during my session something interesting happened though: I could "feel" the syllable and I knew that it was being repeated but I could only very vaguely "hear" it.
My initial inexperienced reaction was to try to "hear" the syllable better, but as I did I noticed that I was expending mental energy and creating a little stress. Tonight as I looked through the manual to prepare for tomorrows sessions I noted that the manual says (page 26) "When returning to the syllable, always find it where it is and continue being aware of it; do not start thinking it clearly."
My interpretation is that if this happens, I should "go with the feeling" and feel the syllable even though the sound is really hazy at that moment.

David,
Correct.
You appear to be understanding some very subtle points very well.
