Timekeeping and Responses

Hi David,

I have been practicing NSR on and off for over a year.
I haven't really experienced yet the reduced stress or "bliss," possibly due to interrupted practice.

I have 2 quesitons.
I have difficulty sometimes keeping track of time, and sometimes this holds me back from losing myself in the session. Is it ok to use an alarm clock?

Emotionally, I feel very much the same as before, anxious, angry, nervous, etc
What I do experience is a lot of physical responses, i.e., muscle beats, "electrical charges," "heaviness in my head," pricking pain, occasional involuntary movement, etc
I understand these are signs of stress release. If you could give some more details on what is actually happening in my body I would appreciate it, esp since my practice has led me to these physical responses, but not an emotional response yet.

Thank you very much for your service,

Searcher,

Yes, noticing a reduction in stress and an increase in inner bliss may require regular practice. There are probably some surface-level stresses that need to be dissolved first.

It is best not to use an alarm clock, no matter how quiet it is. See "Timing meditation" at http://www.network54.com/Forum/254541/message/1189429423/Timing+meditation .

You say, "Emotionally, I feel very much the same as before, anxious, angry, nervous, etc." Natural Stress Relief will produce different effects with different people, because we all have a different set of stresses having various depths and amounts. Since we don't have the same history of exposure to stress, and since we don't all start with the same flexibility in our nervous systems, we have different experiences from the stress release that comes from the natural and deep rest of the Natural Stress Relief technique.

You list a number of physical sensations and movements. These are definitely the result of removing the blocks to the full experience of inner silence and bliss. The stresses that cause these sensations and movements must be dissolved before you can have a clear experience of transcending. Metaphorically, the mud must be removed before we can see deep into the pond. All that is needed is a bit of patience. The clearing process happens efficiently, so it will be very soon that you will notice good results. I would ask you to check back in here in a few weeks (at most four months), so we can track your progress. Please make a note of this, as your future report will be of great help to other new meditators.

You ask for more details about what is happening in your body. I'm not sure what level of detail you are seeking. If you want to know medically and scientifically the specifics of stress release, I'm afraid that research has not yet been done. All we know is that transcending brings a unique state of deep rest to the body. This deep rest allows the body to dissolve stress. When the stress is dissolved, thoughts, emotions, sensations, and movements may occur, depending on the individual. With regular practice of NSR, our stresses are efficiently dissolved, leaving a healthier body, one which resists acquiring new stresses. Eventually, we become ready for enlightenment, the state of maximum resistance to new stress and a state of inner bliss and outer success.

Thanks for your questions, and I wish you the best of success in your practice of NSR.
