compatibility question

Firstly I'd like to say thank-you for making such an effective form of relaxation available so inexpensively.

My question is regarding the practicing of NSR whilst taking Diazepam. My Doctor has prescribed me a 2 week course (low dose, 4mg a day) to reduce muscle tension. Is it OK to continue NSR whilst taking Diazepam?

Thanks

Harry

When taking medicine

Harry,

Yes, we always continue practicing NSR twice a day, no matter what happens in our life.

Whenever possible, take the medicine just after meditating, not before.

Sometimes medicine will cause our mind to be "fuzzy", and transcending will seem to be sluggish or nonexistent. At such times, be careful not to focus or concentrate on the syllable. Just be very easy with it, being aware of the syllable as just a faint idea or even just as a feeling that it is there.

Sometimes we start thinking the syllable, but find that the mind is too tired or fuzzy to continue thinking it. Just allow whatever happens to continue. Be easy and comfortable.

In all such fuzzy situations, we are still getting deep benefit, so it is worth spending the time meditating even if it seems that nothing is happening.

If the doctor finds that NSR does more to reduce muscle tension than medicine, he or she may wish to reduce or eliminate the medicine. We always leave this decision to the doctor.
