A Helpful Thought?

I read something this week that was helpful to me and very simple. It has helped me to take a little more effort out of a session. It came from a written discription of a discussion between Sidhartha and Asita as Sidhartha was being taught to meditate. He was asked if he could just not talk to himself. Thinking about that before a session has helped me to quieten some more of the thoughts with less effort or struggle. Just don't talk to your self!

It seems that I am experiencing very large gaps or blanks in each session lately (~3 months since begining NSR). I hope that is ok and normal. It will be interesting to see what happens in a year.

A helpful thought

John P.,

I'm happy that you have found something that helps your practice of NSR. Sometimes this sort of thing happens along the way as our mental processes become clearer due to the release of stored stresses.

Experiencing large gaps in memory (loss of consciousness) during NSR sessions is evidence of natural and efficient transcending. It is quite normal, and means that you are transcending but then losing consciousness due to a deep stress. Eventually, when the stress is released, the block will disappear and you will be able to maintain awareness even while experiencing the finest and quietest impulses of thought, or that state of consciousness with no thought at all--transcendence.

When that happens, the "subconscious" level of the mind vanishes (it was always just a dysfunctional illusion caused by stress), leaving the entire range of the mind open to conscious exploration. Clear, alert transcending is fun, delightful, and helps to fulfill every aspect of our daily life.

You are doing very well, and the future looks interesting indeed.

Thanks for your time and patience.

These gaps do make the sessions go by very fast. Looking forward to dissolving the stress that is causing them.
