John P.,
I'm happy that you have found something that helps your practice of NSR. Sometimes this sort of thing happens along the way as our mental processes become clearer due to the release of stored stresses.
Experiencing large gaps in memory (loss of consciousness) during NSR sessions is evidence of natural and efficient transcending. It is quite normal, and means that you are transcending but then losing consciousness due to a deep stress. Eventually, when the stress is released, the block will disappear and you will be able to maintain awareness even while experiencing the finest and quietest impulses of thought, or that state of consciousness with no thought at all--transcendence.
When that happens, the "subconscious" level of the mind vanishes (it was always just a dysfunctional illusion caused by stress), leaving the entire range of the mind open to conscious exploration. Clear, alert transcending is fun, delightful, and helps to fulfill every aspect of our daily life.
You are doing very well, and the future looks interesting indeed.
