Would there be any reason to switch from TM to NSR. Could this create any problems i.e. is there an adverse effect from changing mantras?

Switching techniques

Dear mhlneuro,

In general, there is no advantage for switching from TM to NSR. They are both effortless transcending techniques that provide access to deep rest along with mental alertness, just what the nervous system needs to allow deep-rooted stresses to be dissolved. Several clients have switched and had good experiences, but these were unusual cases with specific and personal reasons.

In general, it is a good idea to avoid switching mantras, because the nervous system gets used to experiencing the mantra at a deep level. Any modification or manipulation of the mantra will tend to interfere with its effectiveness as a vehicle for transcending, at least until the nervous system gets used to it again.

We offer NSR Meditation as an alternative to Transcendental Meditation® specifically for those who are not yet practicing an effective meditation technique.
