I agree that the "One Face, One Race"/"Italian and Greek" concept does not fit us even remotely. Wherever there are "Padanians," everything is advancing around them. For example, Sao Paulo was a hopeless place of abject poverty, and suddenly was transformed into a major world metropolis.

I believe that the Mediterranean fits into three demographic phases. First the ancient Mediterraneans, next the advance of the Arabs and Turko-Mongolians, and last the settling of the population from the Islamic slave trade from the interior of Africa (in North Africa). The Etruscans and early Italic tribes pre-dated all of the latter.
