Eric Woolfson - A Little Too Much / Jekyll & Hyde 7" ACETATE Emidisc
Does anyone have any information about these two songs? When are they from? Did anyone else ever record them? Does Mr. Woolfson himself perform them on this recording (I'm assuming he does)?
Best wishes,
Ian C. Thomas
(in Australia)
P.S. I'm still completely captivated by "Poe," which is still doing regular rotation at out house, and it's wonderful to hear of "Gaudi" returing to the limelight!
I missed out on this one myself...I don't have any info on it but I have not seen it before...it just goes to show that you need to be quick and willing to spend a bit to catch these rare ones!
There was also magazine on there the other day featuring POE - well done to whomever grabbed that one out from under me! I do have copies of Blickpunckt Musical featuring POE though - all in German - I think that is fairly difficult to find now, and it has some great photos and an article.
I do try to mention some of the things I spot on ebay and gemm.com on the unofficial fan messageboard I have for Steve - if any of you are interested please stop in and have a look.
Thanks, NeeCee, it's nice to hear someone else was chasing this one! Eric was a prolific songwriter with quite a few different incarnations in the early days, but I hadn't expected to see a single with his real name (and voice) on it!

Hi,
I'm sorry to reply to this post after 4 years (!), but I've just noticed it by chance and would like to go deeper in this matter.
Unfortunately the Ebay auction is no more available, so I ask details to Ian or to anyone who seen it and can remember.
We know from Eric's official site that the song "Little too much" was written by Eric for Jane Latter, but that's it.
The song "Jekyll & Hyde" was not known to anyone nor cited anywhere.
There's a chance that the 7" auctioned was indeed a Jane Latter single and the title of the auction wanted to highlight the fact that the A-side was written by Woolfson to whet the appetite of APP fans rather than the Latter fans...?
If the single was really an Eric solo effort, the fact that is an acetate make me think that it was a planned single but never released...
Does anyone remember at what price it was sold in that auction?

Thanks Andrea for posting this information. You are quite right that Eric did write A Little Too Much which was recorded by Jean Latter who also recorded Eric's song 'Sign On The Dotted Line' which became quite well known in the Northern Soul circuit in England, where Jean was popular.
Regarding Jekyll & Hyde, I asked Eric who remembers that this was a song written with a Glasgow Jazz musician called Andy Park. Eric adapted Andy's basic melody and added the lyric as he recalls. His memory is a little vague as this was a long time ago, probably at the end of the 60s or early 70s.
