Back From The Far Side Of The World (NL, KL and Taiwan)

Quite a tour and quite a flight, but let's start from the beginning in Amsterdam, where I attended the best convention for dance; ADE. Saw most of the usual suspects and it was interesting to see Hed Kandi and Tokyo Project in the same room (no cat fight). On the Saturday I did my residency gig in Panama. This time with Gadjo (the DJ and live PA) + Johnny Kelvin from In Bed With Space. Wicked night and they were both great DJs, very entertaining. I decided to go a bit tougher, Ronster style since I played the last slot. The last hour of the set was smoking and one of the better I have done in that club.

From Amsterdam I flew on to KL and it took the whole day (14 hours + 7 hours time difference) so I was a bit fried arriving in a very hot and humid place. This leg of the tour was with Jack McCord, who is Hed Kandi's Australian resident and a total dude (wicked producer too). The club, Zouk, is absolutely amazing and the main room looks just like Pacha in Ibiza. The Velvet Lounge where I played is like a normal 800 capacity club and the system was out of this world - easily the best sound so far this year. The people were more active than European crowds, chanting and cheering not only in breakdowns so in all a great experience and I will be back. Final leg of the tour was Taipei in Taiwan which is another 4 hours away. I have to tell you that Taiwan really surprised me. It was like an Asian LA with huge malls, Starbucks everywhere and stylish people. The shopping is mad, not only electronics, but designer stuff - everything is there. The club however, was cool, but as usually in Asia these days, the main room was HIP HOP (this will have to be changed!) The lounge wasn't bad except the system could have been more powerful and it wasn't set up like a club. Still, they really liked it and there were a lot of English, Canadian and South Africans there who were starved for a bit of dirty funk so we enjoyed it. Lausanne next with da Ronster - see you there!
