Miami 2006..THE FULL STORY

Hi everyone,
Hope this message finds everyone well.Well I thought I would write up my adventures in Miami 2006 for all my beloved fans (hahah)?!

After not having been back since 2003,This year has reopened my enjoyment to American Clubing(and it is continuing as I am on the west coast now).

In previous years I have wanted to do the lot and have tried to get as much house in my ears as possible. But over the last few years I have taken on board the phrase "QUALITY NOT QUANTITY."

Also Uncle Stonebridge has advised to go organic... no that doesnt mean that i'm going to start eating that over priced stuff.. I just believe that a house night should feel rite and cool.If it does'nt then don't bother spending your money.

My first night was at the Defected recods party at Nikki beech.Boy has this place lost the plot!?3 years ago you could hear the music 3 blocks away and the place was rammmed! Now with the noise police and fire brigade keeping an eye out, when we arrived at similar times to when I've been there before it was only 20% full!Mind you,is it just me or has Defected Records lost the plot completly?!I gave this er 2 hour stint around 4/10

Our next night out was the MNS2 party at Anelka.Toney Humpries was headlining and it was very full.Caught most of the great mans set.

But Miami is'nt just about big names, its about the up and comming djs giving it some welly and trying to make a new name for them selves.

One of these individulas would certainly be A dutch dj called HARD SOUL.

I hope everyone does'nt forget his name in a hurry. This guy rocked the place when he came on and managed to out funk /house the great master himself, Mr Humphries! The set just blew me away. But what discusted me more was that when his set was about to finish a very rude and really past it dj adopted a rather bully boy tactice to get Hard sould to finish.Dj Sneak u WAN##ER!

HOUSE MUSIC IS ABOUT SHOWING FELLOW PERFORMERS LOVE!NOY BY ADOPTING A SUPERSTAR ATTITUDE.REMEMBER PEOPLE ITS ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC NOT THE DJ!

Saturday was a Stonebridge night and we headed out of town to an indian reservation and the hard rock hotel.Listen this place was huge and was like universal studios meets disney land meets clubing. The club itslef was purpse built and this greatly in my opinion improves the clubbing experience(see my other comments below on new clubs).
The promoter kept on stressing that Miami beach was over and that people would be trying to go to a nearer venue to them selves where people dont want toget ripped off in parking and entrance fees togeather with drinks prices any more(more on this below).

Stonebridge came on around 1 .30 am and played until 3 am!What a set!A bit tougher than what im used to but again he gave everyone before and after alot to think about when it comes to trying to show an old dog new tricks.. u cant teach Stonebridge!

Tommy Vee(ex italian big brother fame and Dj)mihht be able to quote greek and latin but he needs to go back to dj school... come on mate you really must try harder!Stone you slaped his bum in the house steaks and sent him back to his mama with no dinner!

The evening finished really well , except that Stone lost his records whislt we waited for our car to turn up from valeting. After a long timne trying to search for the records with calls to promoters etc.It was deemd a lost cause.Lucky the man always carries his lap top wih all his tunes.

Well My last clubbing night what at a very new venue at the bottom of south beach called FIFTH.By this night Stone was on his way to the land of Brazil to play Sao Paolo. So I called a good mate to show me this new super club.

OH WHOW!THIS IS A CLUB!Not those two bit affairs that should have closed ages ago! We're talking an all white modern Pacha ibiza design with an interior that reminded me of the Hacienda in Manchester except the mettal girders where all white.

What a sound system! Those Alpason Speakers we're the round of snooker tables and just blew the place apart. If you could have designed a club from scratch this would have been it!

This is the kind of place You should be playing Stone. After speaking to the promoter he too would be interested!

So Miami2006 hmmmmmm .Well it was full of surprises.Didnt expect to find my blue print for a great place. Also I would like to say that South beach is not over.People will always want to try a new experience and sample new great places like FITH.But it has to be about what I said at the beginning of this posting... QUALITY NOT QUANTIY AND ORGANIC!

New clubs like the ones out of town will be good in a way because they will filter all the house rif raff that really would'nt know the difference anyway.(That sounds terrible but sometimes you just want a crowd that is up for it and has made an effort).LiL JOEY, Mambo birdette , Mad Barry you would have loved Fifth!

So thats it. I hope everyone is looking after themselves.I have another 2 weeks in North America.Hopefully catch up with you all at the Leeds gig.

Ciao e grazie Stone

Great write up! Just makes me wanna go to miami more ya sod. Was close to going this year but ive just changed jobs which i thought wasnt going to be happening till later in the year!!!!

I must agre with u Ronster Sneak has had his day, i saw him a few weeks ago for the opening night of My House in leeds and he got p***ed up on by all the resies, he just lacked that appeal he once had, the guy just seemed to be loving having a mess around and taking a gamble on the tune selections.

What seemed to be wrong with the Defected parties, i saw th line ups they had throught the week and they semed to be pretty cool, also the miami 06 cd they released it very classy to say the least.

Hi there,
Thanks for all the comments.Hi Kris I agree the line up looked good on paper, But you had to be there to check it for yourself. The place was not what it was 3 years ago.Blame that on the noise poice , firebrigade , Nikki beach or even Defected. It just did'nt do it for me or Stonebridge.Which is a shame really because its got ahuge following(pity that following was'nt there when we turned up).. 1 am should be prime tme for any record party!NEVER MIND EH.

Mambo hope u and Joe are well.i really needed this break.Work has almost frazzeled my brain(aplogises for the spelling mistakes above and on the man miami story).I'm for sure going to be here next year.Hope u 2 can join me.

Ciao
