This spring is intense and this is my third trip to the Americas in a month - my body clock is somewhere in the Atlantic at this stage! Anyway, I decided to not risk a 50 minute connection time in Paris for the Bogotá flight so I came into Paris the night before and hooked up with Chris Kaeser and the D-Track’s crew for vin rouge et entrecote - great night and lots of music chit chat. The next morning I boarded the Air France Airbus with a whole business class section for myself. Man, I didn’t want to leave when we landed - what a service (Ronster, I now understand what you have been on about for years). Having heard multiple stories about Colombia and after have seen Blow, I didn’t know what to expect, but it is a very cool place and I didn’t feel it was dangerous in any way. José, the promoter picked me up in a Benz Jeep and we went to the hotel. The Ministry guy came in on a later flight so I could chill a few hours before the show. The club, Gothica is a small big club. It had several levels and great sound system (as I said after Brazil, the South Americans love their bass). It was packed and they were into a bit of everything, but more towards the funkier side of things. Funny thing is that tribal didn’t work that well or latin stuff, they are more into peak hour vocals and more energetic eletroey sounds. And the Robin S remix, totally blew the place away. As the police are trying to shut nightlife earlier in Bogotá, the party moved to another venue after 2 hours, not something I normally do, but I felt the love from the crowd and played another hour in this latin club, where they had played merengue and raggaton all night - talk about sound clash! After having dropped Silverius Corazon (which actualy worked really well in this club), they started to move and after a while a bunch of Brits came in (gotta love them Brits, always there when you need them!) and took over the dance floor.

A little sleep later, we were on the domestic to Medellin, which has the worst reputation, but quite unjust I have to say. It’s a party town with lots of bars, restaurants, clubs and hotels. It’s in a valley between two big mountiains so it’s a bit warmer than Bogotá,l which is 2600 metres above sea level. We went straight to the club to check that everything was OK and it really is one of the coolest clubs I’ve seen. Automatic roof that opens when it’s too hot, elevated booth over the octagonal dance floor. Later on as we came back for the show, the guy before played some pretty serious proggy electro vibes, which isn’t ideal as a warm up so I had to take things down a bit. Again, I realised that just because you’re in a latin country, latin house will work. It didn’t and it wasn’t until I spanked them with some harder beats and then gave them 45 minutes of big tunes as a reward, I got it going, but it really went off - amazing night and weekend. Don’t believe a word you hear about this country, it’s the friendliest place on earth (as long as you don’t venture far south)!

Stone What a great report. Unfortunatly I could'nt make it to another ex Spanish Coloney, but i was with you in spirt if not in body on that dance floor.
I told you about Air France Busienss Class.... in a league of its own.For sure If anyone is thinking about a long haul trip and can afford to treat themselves then it is defo worth looking at AF.
Was really interested in reading about Columbia.I myself had also heard some absolute nightmare stories about the place.Im happy that you had a great time. Its always good to hear a more positive story , to a place that has been slated so many times.
Well you made it to the tip of South America... You will have to keep heading south for another 4 hours and try Argentina next time......Now for that trip Im there!!!!
