May bank holidays are always a big deal in the UK (and now officially proven flaky at best) and the first one was spent in Scotland a few weeks ago. This one started with a drive down to sunny Bournemouth on the Thursday with Lil’ Joey. We were invited to play for Criminal Clothing alongside Brandon Block - that alone was a reason to go! The venue was properly decorated and the system perfect so it looked like it would be a good night. Since I came with Joey, who opened up, I had a chance to listen to all the guys play which was cool. After Joey was Jamesie and Criminal man Tim Lyall, who took it from Joey’s solid grooves to more electronic vibes. Then came Brandon, who really got it going with some dirty faster sounds. It wasn’t easy to follow that and because of the amount of DJs, I didn’t play very long. Good fun though and lots of interesting Criminal gear

The next day we drove to Leicester in the middle of the night to Havana, which technically is an after hours party starting at 12. I went on at 3 and kept it kind of late night dark with some big hooks thrown in for good measure. The later it gets, the less people care though so it wasn’t the best gig this year even though the vibe was good in the room.

Trustworthy Joey and Kerry took me on the trek that is Swansea in the heart of Wales on the Sunday for my return to Crobar. It was a painless drive through the English and Welsh country side and plenty of time in the hotel to download some new tracks and prepare for the night. This club likes it funky and I had a few things I have been wanting to test on a crowd like this - very refreshing and a great night. Second insight of the weekend: Vodka & Soda is the ultimate DJ drink, Corona is now retired and Vodka Red Bull is way too sugary and makes you feel like shit the next day.

Hey Stone,

Lookin' good! What happens with your Mix you did with Thomas Gold on "Show Me Love"? Will Champion put that out anytime?

Peace

I think it will be a gig only feature. Too complicated to clear the vocal unfortunately.
