Since I gave Ibiza a miss last year, I was really looking forward to returning and to a new venue. And as often in Ibiza, you don’t just play a set in a club, but a couple of pre-parties as well, so I got on the first one - a boat ride - with Ronster and his mates to play in the sunset of the San Antonio bay - stunning and so much fun. It was a bit weird at first since the crowd was sitting down facing the DJ booth, but after a bit it got going and when DJ Fubar used his headphones as a mic and whipped them up it got crazy. Track of the cruise was Killing It and Disco Freaks, that is the perfect tune for gigs like this.

Next up was Itaca, which is a nice little bar club next to M on the same street as Es Paradis. Laid down some funky stuff and headed over to Es Paradis for the main event. The funny thing is that both these two pre-parties were into funky house and not really anything electro based.

Man, this venue is big - huge in fact. It’s cleverly laid out so it doesn’t feel like a hall with different levels and parting walls etc and all in white. As I was playing 3 - 5, I decided to take things a bit heavier sprinkled with big hooks and it totally went off. Can’t wait to come back here with Mischa Daniels & Co at the end of July. After having flown back to Stockholm and meeting Mischa Daniels, we went to the studio to get a future collaboration going. Since Mischa is on Cubase/PC and I’m on Logic, we discussed a few ideas and decided to join Lil’ Joey, Kerry and Ben the agent for dinner in the lovely restaurant that is Hotellet. Some vin rouge and entrecote late we came down to the club and Joey set it off with his funky grooves. After 5 months it seems we have managed to get the crowd going earlier by removing everything from the dance floor (so they can’t sit there and hang around, lazy types) and by midnight it was great and Mischa took things a bit tougher with some Axwell mixes that of course went down really well. We gradually cranked up the volume and by 1.15 when I went on it was the best vibe so far in the club. The only complaint is that it’s way too short with the 3 AM closing, especially having three DJs on. The biggest tune was no doubt the Dr Dre mash up, Get Ur Ass Up. Next month will be the last one of the first 6 and then we’ll see what happens. Special thanks to the crew, the Solidaritet and guest list crowd for a wicked night!

For once, I survived the Stockholm morning air state and slipped on the plane to London with Joey, Kerry and Young Axel for the roadblock that is Up^^ at Turnmills - my second one there. As we came in, the music was already dark and slamming and Herd & Fitz really had it going even though they had the early slot. No worries, I brought some vocals and funk back and it was one of the UK best shows I’ve done this year, up there with The Cross. Again, dropping the Dr Dre mash up just killed it and so did ‘Killing It’ - these two are so different to all electro around and even though they’re not that special, they blow up any club right now.
