Amazing week in spent in three countries starting with a new DJ product testing in Paris with some really cool people. It's an interesting concept with two hard drive based players, a mixer with sampler and FX built into one CDJ size box. Can't reveal more than that at this point, but I think it will raise a few eyebrows once they've ironed out a few bugs before the launch next May. Eddie Thoneick was also part of the testing team and we decided it was way too long ago we did something together so I will probably hook him up in Stockholm for a SB & Friends party next spring. I also went out with Chris Kaeser and his crew for a night out in Paris. Well, it was a Monday so we had to settle with Entrecote et vin rouge, then a tiny little lounge type club that played all our tracks - very impressive!
On Wednesday afternoon I met up with Ronster at the airport in Paris and we boarded the flight to Madrid and then on to Buenos Aires from there. It was a long ass flight let me tell you, 14 hours in total, but the 5 hour time difference made it arrive nicely in the morning in a sunny springtime Buenos Aires. It's always weird for us northern Europeans to find warm weather in October and I had totally forgotten to bring anything but warm clothes. The mission here was to hook up with local promoters and check some of the clubs for future tours so we hooked up with Ronster's friend Hernan, who is a resident at this really cool little club called Asia de Cuba. Like many Spanish clubs, it's a restaurant that turns into a club around midnight. After that we checked another place called Jetset and it took me right back to Marbella as it was right on the seafront next to a marina and had some real posers running around. The following night we went to Rumi, which was even better that the two before and then one of the best clubs in town, Crobar. Man, I wish they had clubs like this in Europe - bad ass sound system, massive wooden floor and a couple of bars. No bottle service areas that invade the whole space. I can recommend a week in Buenos Aires as an alternative to Sydney in the northern winter as it has eveything you need + it's really cheap.
After three days in Buenos Aires, me and Ronster flew to Asuncion in Paraguay for a show in the biggest club there called El Santo. Everything was spot on here from hotel to back stage and the booth was elevated and had the biggest monitors I've ever seen. The resident was playing pretty much what all DJs down here are playing; vocal post electro without any real groove so I decided to get into a more housey direction and started with my remix of Santito followed by the new Wawa track. As I got to some tribal beats, it was clear what they were into and when I dropped Robbie's Star Quality it was heaving in there and the promoter was jumping behind me. Fantastic night and this whole trip opened my eyes for South America - krasse scheisse as the Germans say (The Shit basically).
