Lately it sounds like he's been lost in somekind of "Vengeance" loops mode,
and that is just not good! What happened to the REAL quality sound,
is it Just a matter of being out playing records and not having the time, or is it something else?Even the mastering have so much artifacts and digital distortion sometimes.
These days.Guys like Ingrosso makes the most stupid music ever, not very good,
even Axwell feels like he's falling apart, so I hope Stonebridge is not taking the same rout! Bring back the quality.
"oh, it works in the club so shut up!" ,
well , whatever bassdrum would work in a club, by itself
I's funny you mention Vengeance as it's very specialist knowledge, but I admit that I have been using Vengenace (a drum sounds CD series) for about two years pretty much on every mix. Quite recently I decided it doesn't sound right running everything live so I have gone back to my tried and tested audio-direct approach as shown in the Future Music video. What I discovered is that in order to sound 'real' you need at least some kind of human element, which is something Laidback Luke has brought back in his remixes and productions too.
If you're old enough to remember when disco died and the drum machines moved in, you will remember how stiff and horrible it all sounded until the producers got over the first love for midi and programmed music. This was over 20 years ago and it's all cyclical. I think we're in a phase like that and it will evolve to more musical and 'real' sounds before long. One obvious sign is that kids are into R&B, Hip Hop and indie bands rather than house as these genres have artists rather than faceless producer driven one off projects.
When it comes to mastering, I don't do it myself. It's basically a sign of the times and the mastering engineers I use claim that most labels send quiet sound masters back for more crunch and level. With pop music, you can't sound weak on radio and all other tracks are totally maxed out. That most music today is enjoyed in MP3 format doesn't help either.
You're being honest, that I must give you, but this isn't the way to talk about people's music!
R.E.S.P.E.C.T for everybody who's making music, and the MORE for the big ones, that have lived troughout (survived) all the house music years and know how the scene works!
You're right that some dj's are f*ckin up now and lost there quality, but still! Plus with the whole digital release scene going on, a lot of crap is being released, which make it almost impossible to find the proper productions. You're almost forced to buy the chart stuff.
Yes, StoneBridge's music is changing and evolving, so is everybodies sound, it's part of being a CREATIVE ARTIST and of course the demand of the market, which is inevitable! However HIS vibe remains in every one of his tracks...there's always that FUNKY feeling going on, that is typical Stone.
And about the mastering: StoneBridge's productions are always fantastically mastered!

P.S. Have you made a track yourself and released it?? Maybe it's nice to give you a review...
