These little small town UK gigs are starting to pop up all over the place and most of them are really close to London. Very strange, but I do love the UK and it's always been my musical home, so I do them and hope for the best. The promoter was Kiss da Funk, who I have worked with before so I was looking forward to some madness in Croydon. I flew into London City Airport, which is a very small, but oh so convenient place as it's pretty much central London and you touch down between buildings and stuff. A quick drive with Joey and after some GPS antics we finally found the venue and there was a massive line outside. So far so good. We walk through one room after an other and finally found the main room all the way back and they had set up a temporary set up on stage. Have no idea why they do this when there's a perfectly fine booth just behind? Luckily I'm a small guy, but the poor warm up had to bend over to mix and there was NO MONITORS! No worries though as Joey and I have done this before so we went on a little search and found one in another room and nicked it. After my set time was moved back a few times I finally got on and didn't have much of a crowd to work with at that stage (warm up anyone?). After about an hour I finally got some sort of vibe going with the Adele and Joe K, but it wasn't a great show I have to say. Poor Rob Tissera did the closing and he didn't look to inspired either.

The next day we went for Dim Sum - this is important and standard on all our UK trips, it has to be done and it was absolutely amazing as we came in a minute after they opened and got it all fresh. Once content we headed towards the airport and the flight to Copenhagen where we hooked up with Thomas Gold and the lovely Verena to drive over to Varberg on the Swedish west coast. This would be our second SBF event in Varberg and all the guys there were excited. We had a small but very good crowd and at the end of Thomas set, all of them were jumping - mission complete. After the gig we tried to locate a place that would hook us up with a celebratory thin bread roll (this is mandatory after a gig in Sweden. It's basically a pita bread with mash potatoes, two hot dogs and shrimp salad rolled into a wrap. Sounds a bit off, but has to be tried). In the end we had to settle for some other local delicacies this time. Excellent night though.

Every tour has this massive place that you don't know anything about and this was the one this time. A massive 1900 capacity club in the middle of a park in this little rural town. Once inside, we couldn't believe the amount of lights, lazers and the size of the rig. The booth alone was like a club. As readers of these reports, you know how important the sound is to me and sometimes I'd settle for a half full club with an excellent system. And that's pretty much what happened here even though the ones that came knew exactly what they would get. We also had pretty much all of the DJs from towns in this part of Sweden and it was good fun all through. And.... we did find a place for thin bread rolls after!

After some intense Tom Tom misguidance and rain we got back to Copenhagen where Joey, Thomas and Verena got on their flights back, but I still had one more show to do up north in Sweden. Even though it's incredibly far away, it was smooth and the cab drivers up north know every curve of the road so I got there in one piece and grabbed a quick dinner with the promoter, Mattias, who I've known for years. The club was incredible and even though they came late (seems to be a new thing in Sweden, you pay shitloads to get in and then you party for 1.5 hours) it was a great party with some slamming tunage towards the end. Another tour done and I dare say it will be a while before I do this many shows in a row again. Well at least two weeks as Miami is approaching fast
