Singapore is one of those transfer places you go on your way somewhere like Australia and it's a shame you never really get to see it properly. This was why I decided to stay a few days and check the F1 race at the same time. This place is clean, very clean and everything works, everybody is friendly and they all speak English. As a European, the first thing that strikes you is the amount of parks and green + churches and colonial style buildings. Of course, as any Asian super city, there are loads of high rises, but they seem to have planned this city better than any other on this half of the world and it all fits together.
The party was held on the 71st floor of Swissotel The Stamford and of course a silver Benz came and picked me and Ronster up from the airport in style. On the way in, we saw all these F1 barriers, billboards and pit stops. Cars were already driving in the track and it was louder than a 380 taking off I tell ya. The management had arranged a room with full view of the track and we couldn't believe our luck as we wouldn't have to be outside in 35 degrees tropical heat all night. Next day was spent in the many malls of Orchard Rd and there are no shops outside the malls which felt a bit unusual, but of course very convenient. Don't expect super funky and rare fashion here, it's like Dubai - very high street, Dior, Prada etc. At night we started proceedings checking out all the smaller rooms of the club with private viewing booths for the F1 on the 71st floor - this place is absolutely amazing. Old mate Jon White, that I have played with in Shanghai a couple of times, did the warm up. You could tell this man knows Asia clubbing inside out as he took it from deep house to medium size groovers and got them dancing without dropping a single big tune. Just perfect! I didn't know how well they would go with heavier stuff so I decided to start with Big Love and then build. It was amazing and even though this Chinese girl in the booth got a bit excited and paused the CD twice in a ferocious dance move, it was non stop partying and the whole night was over in what felt like an hour. Earlier, the manager had told me they usually wind the night down at 3 - 3.15 and of course I saw the challenge and had them going to 4.30 AM, hehe. The crowd in the end was 99% British - again, I praise these guys as they knows their music inside out - Big Thanks to all and I can't wait to come back!!!
