Hello. I have been trying to get pregnant for almost a year. I have cysts and endometriosis and my doctor recommended going on Chlomid. I really don't know much about the drug. I was wondering if anyone knows the success rate as well as the side effects. Thanks for the help and God bless.

Hi Shara,

Welcome to the clomid club. You have come to the right place for support and answers about clomid.

As for your question, Clomid is a very successful drug to treat infertility. The side effects are terrible for some women and not so bad for others. For me I feel the side effects at the end of my cycle. I get terrible hot flashes and horrid mood swings and depression. I don't want to discourage you, but be prepared just incase you have the bad effects.

I have been ttc for 4 mos. on clomid this time. I tried 3 years ago and got discouraged and quit. I am not gonna give up this time. My husband calls clomid my doctor jeckle and mr. hyde pills because one minute I'm an angel and the next minute I'm the devil. But with each passing month, I'm able to recognize when its just the clomid effecting me and attempt to control it. Sometimes its uncontrollable.

Best of luck to you and remember we are all here for you. You will find that this board helps alot. Because we all understand what you are going through.

Love to all

Amy

My first two months went great, then I started having the mood swings toward the end of the months.

Welcome Sarah!

Hi Sarah~

Welcome to the ClomidClub. I am glad you came to join us, although it doesn't make me "happy" to see another member because of what we are all going through here.
But, it's always encouraging to see when others beat the battle too, and post they are pregnant. Hopefully, you will be doing that soon! =)

This group is a GREAT resource. I first came here back in Jan.02 I had just started Clomid. I learned a great deal from the girls here, and received much need support. I am now about to do our first Art. Insemination (IUI) with Clomid, so I'll be back on the great "baby" drug. (ha ha)

Everyone's body does respond differently to Clomid. The most common side effects are hot flashes, nausea, vomiting, mood swings, jitteriness, ovary tenderness.
Because it can stimulate your ovaries to produce many eggs, sometimes it's crampy or painful during ovuation. I noticed I had a lot of cramping. I also had the hot flahses. But other than that, I didn't have anything else. Occationally I had a wave of nausea, but I never threw up. =) I was moody too, but I don't know if it was from PMS or the Clomid.(ha ha)

As far as success rates, I don't know off the top of my head. But, I know I have seen several girls in the Clomid Club get pregnant with it, even on their fist attempts! So be positive and take it one cycle at a time.

It's also very important to be monitered while taking this. Are you seeing a regular gynocolgist or a reproductive endocrinologist (RE)? I STRONGLY recommend seeing a speicalist (RE). I saw a gyno for 6 months, and she ended up not treating me aggressively enough or having the experience. We wasted many months on clomid and not in the right treatment. I am not saying all gyno's are like that, but if you have been TTC for a long time, I urge you to get a referral right away and see an RE. I have heard many girls often say the same thing as well. =)

I wish you the best of luck with Clomid and please keep us updated on how you are doing. Lots of postive baby dust!!!!!!!

God bless,

Donna
