Clomid question

Hi Ladies,

It's great to hear about all of the pregnancies. Amy, best of luck to you and DH. FYI, I had lot's of cramping when I was pregnant and thought af was coming any second.

I've read some of the postings and wanted to know if cysts are a common side effect to clomid? It seems that the higher dosage you go, the more likely you are to get cysts? I'm very interested in this matter. How do you know if the clomid is causing you to have cysts.

CD 12
Clomid 1st month 50mg days 5-9
side effects, headaches so far

Love,
Nancy

I was on month #4 when I got mine. I still think the trigger shot had something to do with it. I was fine until after my first IUI cycle. I have only been on 50 mg. My dr said it happens to half of all his cases. I think it just happens.

Thank you Nancy. We are thrilled. The answer to your question is yes. The higher the dose of Clomid, The higher the chance of more cysts. Dealing with PCOS, it is very common for me. Good luck, your day is coming.

Love,

Amy

My experience, both personally and in research is that cysts are a common side effect of Clomid. It is very important that you have an u/s done at the beginning of each cycle to rule them out. They will not put you on another dose until the cysts are gone because Clomid tends to make them larger. They usually go away on their own before the next cycle. I have always been told to drink lots of water to help get rid of them. Not sure if it really helps or not.

My understand of a cyst is that it is either a left over follicle that did not release the egg or the left over corpus luteum. It seems to me that they simply change names at different time of the cycle!

Good luck. And here's hoping that this is your last month on Clomid!! (sorry about the headaches!)

Love,
Rhonda
