| - Hi All,
I am on clomid 50mg CD5-CD9. I have ovulated on CD17, but my progesterone level on CD22 was 6.6. Got mensus on CD31 (today)
Please help me to find answers for the below questions
1. Why my progesterone level is low even though I am ovulating?
Also my doctor asked me to take 100 mg of clomid for next cycle..
2. Why I have to increase the clomid dose when I was ovulating.
3. Will the increase in clomid dose, increase the progesterone level..
Expecting your help... Thanks |

Hi Hema,
Your progesterone level is sort of low and by increasing Clomid to 100mg it can increase your chances of conceiving by helping you ovulate. I have been told that you at least want a progesterone level of above 10, the higher the progesterone the better chances proving that you actually did ovulate. How did you determine that you ovulated on day 17? If you used OPK kits they at times can be inaccurate, well that is my experience. Have you asked your doctor these questions? I would go wit your doctors suggestion to inccrease clomid and have your progesterone checked 7-9 days after you ovulated to check the levels again, then you wil have something to compare the #'s to. This can all be confusing? Goodluck!
Love,

Hi-
I read your post, and I am curious first off, with a progesterone of 6.6 that usually doesn't indicate ovulation. They like to see it over a 10 I believe.
Why do you believe you did ovulate? Where you using a Ovulation predictor kit or charting your temps?
(side note) There were months when I used the ovulation preditor kit and got a + LH surge, but did not release an egg. Therefore my progesterone was very low. If you are charing your temps, you will see a raise after you ovulate. That rise in your temp is from the release of progesterone. =)
Regardless, with a progesterone of 6.6, it's a smart move to increase your Clomid from 50mg to 100mg. That usually will raise your progesterone as well as assist ovulation.
Hope that all answered your questions and again, welcome to the board!
Take care,
Donna
