Amy, are you hanging in there, 2WW really stinks

Hi Amy,

How are you doing? I guess you will know by next week. I'm crossing my fingers and toes for you. I have a question for you, why did your RE give you a HCG trigger shot if you already ovulate with clomid on your own? Is it b/c Dh was going out of town and you needed to ovulate before that. My Re never mentioned giving me that shot. Does it help? Is it something I should ask for?

Thanks for all your help.
Love,
Nancy

HCG Shot

Nancy,

Hmmm...I'm not 100% certain but I think it has mainly been that it controls the timing. Once you get the shot, you will ovulate for certain within 36 hours. When they have done the sonograms in the past, and when they saw a good ripe follicle, they've given it to me and then we've done the IUI the next day. Basically, from what I understand there's no downside to having the injection as long as a sonogram has shown that the follicle is ripe.

Do you know what these high progesterone results mean? I know it means I ovulated, but this month my number was so high (and much higher than last month --this month 57.6 last month 46). It gave me hope but I don't want to be too hopeful.

I sure would love to be done with all this soon!

Love,
Amy

Progesterone

Hi Amy,

I have no idea what such a high progesterone result means, except that you ovulated. Your number is so high this month. When I was pregnant before I can remember my progesterone being 55. So I hope it means that you have a little bun in the oven. Thanks for the information. Stay sane, I'll need to take some pointers from you.

Love,
Nancy

Thanks for your note. Isn't waiting around the worst part? How are you doing today? Did AF come?

The thing that has helped me is to mentally distance myself from the thought of being pregnant. At first, each month AF came, I was a basket case. Now, for some reason, it's getting easier. I think a lot of it is that I truly believe I will get pregnant, and that this is happening for a reason.

Believe me, when/if AF comes for me, I'll be sad, but I think I'll be okay. I've kind of hardened myself to the whole thing as a way to protect myself from being hurt.

Anyway, I'll keep you posted. I'm thinking about you!

Amy
