If your light fixture has the bulbs inclosed the heat decreases the life. Also you should never put more than a 60 watt bulb in any house fixture unless it's built for it. Thousands of fires are started from over wattage. I have taken fixtures down and the insulation on the wire falls off. I worked for several fire inspectors and insurance companies and at least 75% of fires are electric realated.
