While my Dad was aboard the 887 they participated in this operation. He has some interesting stories about the Vietnamese refugees aboard the ship...

They made quite a "mess" in the tank deck ignoring the extra toilet facilities that were set up on the main deck. The ramp was left down so hey could move betwwen the main deck and the tank deck.

yes, another interesting historical event not possible without the unique abilities of the LST.
