I truly appreciate you sharing all of your knowledge! I have often wondered about the Tattoo. Now I know what it sounds like and the meaning/origination. I agree, it is more musical/lyrical than many of the other bugle calls. Taps has a more melancholy quality - probably part of the reason it is used as a closing to military funerals.

Maybe the others were waiting for you to answer..
