Response to Beachmaster

In answer to your question. The beachmaster unit arrived in usally the second wave, right after the amtracts, or lvt's
Normally exposed to the open beach, with nothing to hide behind, except maybe a truck or a broken down amtrac,lvt..We were armed ( lightly) but usally depended on the marines to defend us.
We normaly were in plain sight so that the coxains would know where to land their boats. Usally with a set of flags, red and white/yellow. Now as a signalman on the beachmaster team. We had to be also in plain sight, with a set of semaphore flags, bright red and yellow. and had to stay there until our message was understod. Sometimes you could use a truck as a background. If you used a signal light you could not move very easy. and no signals could be done after nite fall as that would give your location. Like they didn't already know where you were. If you made it longer than 2 minutes you were lucky. If you need more info let me know.
