Kentucky was bumped to build "LST's" NNY laid 8 keels on 17 July '42. Finally building 20 and delivered the last one in Febuary of '43.

I makes one wonder, if the "T's" built at Philly, Newport News and Norfolk could have been built else where. Leaving the heavy yards to build combatants. By doing so it would have added about 3 hulls to the rest of the yards. The New york Navy Yard didn't build any.

Kentucky became a donor to the Uss Wisconson and the AOE-1 class ships. She did serve the service although never completed.
