I agree with the Captian and Jo.
My first LST WEEK was in 2006 and it was GREAT and the 2007 LST WEEK was even better! The main reasons for LST WEEK is to honor and remember ALL our VETERANS, meet old friends & make new friends, tour an operational WWII LST, and support the LST MEMORIAL!
Where else could take a cruise on an LST (or any ship) for FREE. I can only imagine how much diesel fuel was burned during those 3 trips, not counting the fuel used in the LCVP rides. If you were to go to a dance in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, or New York the cover will be greater than $10 and the drinks more expensive. The USO Dance was a blast! The food in Evansville is good and the prices are reasonable, and the taveling distance is not that bad.
I just got back from Disney World and I can honestly say I enjoyed myself more at LST WEEK in Evansville.
I just want to say THANK YOU and a big BRAVO ZULU to all the volunteers, the members of the LST Memorial , and the people of Evansville for a FANTASTIC LST WEEK!!!
To all the veterans
"THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR GREAT COUNTRY"
