I was of the impression last summer that Pioria was interested in having a Landing Ship home ported there.
It seems that the LSM 45 is in great need of a home port and an enthusastic group of volunteers to do to her as the USS LST Ship Memorial & the people of Evansville did for the LST 325. Maybe such a challenge should be put to Pioria or any other of the cornfield ship yards.
Maybe a trend could be started to memorialize these "Forgotten and not so Glamorious Hero Ships".
I think that we can answer the question in WVRays second link about "how many people want to go see a landing ship? "
Any Opinions or suggestions??
