Response to Information about Operation LST D-Day 2008

Operation LST D-Day WW II battle re-enactments are this coming weekend

June 7 & 8

This is the third year for this event. Last year the History Channel was in town filming the event, which was seen on TV last week on Memorial Day during the show Hero Ships -- LSTs.

This event, which draws WW2 re-enactors and historians from all over the Midwest, is made possible by sponsorship from Atlas Van Lines. Without Atlas' sponsorship, this event could not take place.

Four battles this weekend:

Saturday at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Sunday at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.

American troops will be landed by amphibious assault boats and vehicles from the Ohio River at the Saturday 1 p.m. battle (not the other battles).

NEW THIS YEAR: WW2 aircraft flyovers during the Saturday 1 p.m. battle.

The event is Free to the Public. Parking is limited at Marina Pointe, but additional parking is available in the Aztar parking garage. A free shuttle will transport people from the front entrance of the Aztar Hotel to Marina Pointe and return them after the event.
