I had never thought about how many rounds would be spent in that short of a time period. I know that guns would not necessarily be firing continually but still... that's a lot of fire power.

The trainers had an awfully important job.... but the loaders did too. I remember hearing of loaders who ordered the crew out of the gun tub while they pried a jammed shell out... and then quietly called the others out and went back to loading... all of these men were brave.. and prime targets of those flying overhead.

I remember seeing photos (I think during the Pearl Harbor attack) where the gunnery crew were at their stations .. still in their aprons from their galley duty.

Another example of the can do attitude.
