Response to The Hannibal Courier Post

I understand that everyone yesterday was very busy with visitors to the ship (a GOOD thing!), as Son of Rosie shared. It was hot and humid, but people wanted to see the Grey Lady. In addition to the special visitors Mike mentioned, people lined up and were waiting to tour her as the gates opened. It continued like that all day.

The crew and many volunteers are particpating in each tour, highlighting various things as people pass through. In addition, they are standing watch, answering questions and really enjoying sharing the history with everyone.

There have been a lot of 'rewards'... a key to the City of Hannibal for LST 325 (does it fit the bow doors, Captain J? ), special presentations and ceremonies... a special lunch provided by the citizens of Hannibal... the Tom Sawyer reenactors... a singing group (they even sang with Don Lockas to his delight!)... and so much more. The most special, however, are the faces of Veterans as they re-live their service time, sharing with their spouses and friends, children and grandchildren what they did, where they bunked, what life was like during those times. All making new memories to store up and examine as the precious gifts they are.

Many of us wish that we could be there with you, know that we are in spirit!!!!
