USS LST-325
ROUTINE 30 1800 CDT August 08
POSITION 41o 27’42N 90o 29’45W

Moored.

Wonderful weather today and GREAT crowds in Moline. Sailor in dress whites who is attending "A" School at Great Lakes on board with her grandfather. He was quite proud of her in her dress whites, and she of him and his service. Many veterans today; families teaching their children history and patriotism and/or sharing Dad or Grandpa's military time. Great reception, great hospitality.

Great dinner – a buffet du jour… to clean up leftovers. Home away from home!

As dinner was over and the crew began their evening tasks, people could still be seen driving into the parking lot on shore, just to gaze at our beautiful 325…

All is well…
