First -- Gold crew member Joe "Cookie" Sadlier will be going soon to the VA Hospital in Seattle, WA for cancer treatment. As of last night he was waiting on paperwork. It is reported to be slow growing and Joe is wondering if he should retire from driving a city bus in Ketchikan? I will keep all informed as to when he goes to the hospital, etc.
Meanwhile, Mr. George White, support crew on Greece trip, was run over by his tractor! Can you imagine? He only has 4 hairline fractures, two virtebraes, and two in his right pelvis. He is doing fine but would appreciate cards and of course any prayers you can spare. He should make a full recovery. Address is: Mr. George White, Rosewood Care Center, 7300 34th Ave, Moline, IL. 61265
George thought he was better than me and HE could teach his tractor to jump over him! He did pick a slightly smaller tractor. that just died upon reaching the top of his butt, and rolled back off! I guess the tractor knew better than to try and run over a marine! The wife and I stopped to see him last week and he is doing fine -- lots of good looking nurses. He could lift his right leg about an inch, but promised me to keep going. He still is hurting over the seamstress from Souda, who he fell madly in love with, and I guess still hears from her, when her extra big husband is not around! You sort of see what other difficulties I had to deal with besides getting the ship going in Souda, Crete. George was spending all of his money on long pants, just so he could go over there and get them shortened. Capt.
