Response to From our friend Chappie... One view of D-Day

Tony Chapman's poems were used as part of this ceremony; AWAY THEY GO was recited by Harwich and Dovercourt Sailing Club President Frank Wellington and JUST A MOMENT IN TIME by Derek Glen Barber of the HDSC

Away they go

Away they go.those men and craft
Cruisingin line astern
Onebehind the other
Some..may not return
Away they gothose men and craft
Cruisingday and night
Destination.Normandy
Where they will beat dawns first light
Away they go..those men and craft
All.with a quiet prayer
That tomorrow Lord.in Normandy
You.will be with them..there.

JUST A MOMENT IN TIME

Just a moment in time
Thats what this day will be
But a daythat will live forever
In the minds of men..like me
Just a moment in time
For those..still not yet born
Let them not know..the anquish
Of comradesdead and torn
Just a moment in time
For those here now today
On June the 6th..in Normandy
With fighting..underway
Just a moment in time
What more..can I say
Except Lordwith the passing years
Make these memoriesfade away
Just a moment in time
And whenthis war is won
Please..let those who follow us
Remember.what was done.
