We had left Okinawa,USS LST 576 Monday April 9, 1945, headed for Ulithi. The first entry in our deck log for Thursday April 12, 1945 as follows:
[00-04 Underway in accordance with TASK UNIT 51.29.10 Secret Dispatch 080740 in Position #13, Division I. Base course 123 degrees T, eight (8) knots.]
So we was at sea 65 yars ago today.
Also on Saturday April 14, 1945 it is reported on the 08-12 watch in the deck log that our "Flag lowered to half-mast in commemoration of our President's death."
