I sat listening to some people in a coffee shop today...

they were speaking of the Memorial Day holiday and their plans. I heard them speak about visiting some family members, a party at a friend's and getting together for a cookout on Monday. Not one word was spoken about what this holiday is truly for. It made me sad. I am in hopes that they also have plans to attend the local Memorial Day parade, to visit the cemeteries, to attend the wreath laying in town square. At the very least, deep in their hearts I hope that they at least take a few minutes to pause... lest we EVER forget what has been done for us by so many.

Thank you to our veterans... and those who currently serve. I will remember you along with those through the ages (including some of my own family members) who died. May they rest in peace.
