Response to West Loch Disaster, May 1944

My dad was a plank owner on the LST where the explosions started (LST 353) - luckily, that ship and the 354 swapped several crew members when they both came through the Panama Canal from the Charleston, SC Navy Yard. The LST 354 was already loaded for Saipan and was on its way out of Pearl when the explosions occurred (although they heard them). In reference to the message above, I believe Cal Ellison was on the LST 23 at the time.
