Good Morning.
The previous entry turned on a light for me. For a project that needs to be historically correct I am searching for a listing of ships and craft at the UTAH Beach landing on 06 June 1944.
I have contacted the Navy and several museums (here and in France) with little in the way of replies over the last month. I am mainly interested the amphibious ships such as the LST, LCI(L), LCT Mk V & Mk VI, Rhino Rafts, etc.
For the US Army I know the 4th and 29th Infantry Divisions were the main assault troops/forces. If I can get down to which troops were embarked aboard which ships and craft and even which wave… well it would just be fantastic!
Since this project is mainly about the actual landings at the actual beaches, I am not concerned about the brave airborne troops at this time. That is a project for another day.
So, if any of you D Day vets have notes or remember that you were at UTAH Beach, please share your information with me.
Thank you,
Jim Craven
