I wondered where Chris got the title "Director" so I did some research.
Seems that awhile back a group of bag pipers in full uniforms came aboard the LST.
They marched up the gangway following their colorful Drum Major playing Anchors Aweigh.
Once welcomed aboard they played a few more tunes to everyone's enjoyment.
Chris, who can't stand not being in the middle of everything asked if he could lead the group in a song as its honorary director.
He said he had always had a dream of being a big time director of a pipe band such as this.
Well, it started out well. The band struck up Scotland Forever as Chirs waved the baton. (This was a familiar tune they have played many times how could they mess that up?)
Within moments, under the leadership of Director Chris they began to loose tempo, lost their place and began to sound like a group of quacking ducks and frightened honking geese. The drums became erratic and sounded like machine gun fire and explosions.
The dogs on the Kentucky side of the river began to howl. Spiders were seen jumping overboard.
So you see, he earned the title "Director" because he really was one.
P.S. the pipe band has never returned and it is reported they joined the Foreign Legion shortly after that.
