No one knows for sure why the Greek Navy painted the wheel house black.
I am sure it was for a logical reason at the time.
Now, however, it has been restored to it's official Navy colors.
Perry Ballenger did some research in the Navy archives and dug up information on the proper paint scheme.
Unlike uniforms, the Navy did not change color schemes every time someone new was in charge.
For this compartment the official colors were seafoam green for the bulkheads and overhead.
During the fall work week volunteers were assigned to the wheelhouse work party.
We all turned to and you should see it now.
