Susie Bloom LST-325 post about the Vietnam War veteran who would not talk much about the war. June 1991 the community of Owensboro Kentucky held special welcome home ceremony to honor local Desert Storm War veterans. As we set waiting for the ceremony to begin. We noted a good many Vietnam War veterans in the crowd behind us. We went to each veteran and ask them to join us at the ceremony. A good many of the veterans cried, as this was the first time any of them got any respect, honor or recognition. For those of you who don't know or remember, when our Vietnam War veterans came home from that war. At the airport they were called baby killer's and spit on by the college kids of that time. I remember at that time when soldiers went into town from Fort Knox, they would wear civilian cloths and wigs to hide the fact they were soldiers. After the June 1991 Desert Storm ceremony, all across this country we veterans set out on the joint mission to honor all veterans service. This one battle we we will not lose come hell or high water and we have won that battle. Go any where today in this county and you see young and old folks thanking veterans for their service. No mater your race, gender or branch of service, we are all a Band of Brothers. At the end of a LST-325 school student group tour, I tell the kids why we honor our flag and our veterans. Thank you Susie Bloom and ships company in this on going effort to support and honor our veterans. Thanks keep up the good work, take care. SARGE
