Whilst idly twiddling my thumbs and nursing my ribs (which really took a sh-lacking in that 3-2 win) I've been busy with my trusty calculator and have come up with some stats regarding the first 13 games of this season:-
Avg goals scored per game:- 2.6 Avg goals per game conceded:- 2.5 Avg goals per game conceded if I hadn't scored any own goals:- 2.4
So then I looked at our first 13 games of last season:-
Avg goals scored per game:- 1.7 Avg goals per game conceded:- 3.8
So we're scoring more than last season, despite a feeling that we're not scoring enough - and we're conceding over a goal a game less.
It's all good.
I expect the goals against stat will go the wrong way when I return in the new year - be it missed offsides from me running the line or a few more clinical own goals...
Anyway - have a good X-Mas everyone.

It's good to see that Maple are scoring more goals, and improving the defending as well, though the thing we probably need to concentrate on is to ensure that we pick up the 3 points from matches that we should have won.
There has been a few games already this season where a couple of defeats and a couple of draws really should have been 3 points a time.
The return games vs Wulfrun and Tamworth, the draws vs Sutton (loads of goalscoring chances late on wasted) and Schofield (soft midfield led to two goals conceded, followed by loads of missed chances late on) - 10 points gone awry in a season where certain players believe this is the year that Maple may escape Division 9.
Hopefully the next 3 matches will see Maple take a respectable amount of points (7 from 9?) - and put in the work, commitment and energy needed to win them... (Barney's own goals withstanding!)

It's a well known fact young Barney that 56% of all statistics are made up.
I thank you
I'm here all week.
