I've always wanted to take part of some sort of Martial Arts training, but I was always too lazy to do the research on them. So yesterday I got off of my butt and did some only looking and found lots of interesting information about all of them. But the one which caught my eye the most (and had the coolest name =) was Jeet Kune Do. I then did some further searching and found this website, which has been THE best one so far. I looked through all the different techniques and excerices to train with and liked the looks of all of them.
But there are a few problems. I only have 2 small 15 pound weights, and nothing else to train with (not even a punching bag, I tried a few bails of hay but I found out that slivers hurt). I also don't have a sparring partner, or anyone really to talk about this with. I'm 17 and when my parents walk in my room to find me swatting the air, they are starting to think I'm going insane or something. I'm addicted to this art, and I plan to use it to stay in shape and for a stress-reliever.
Are there any tips for a new person like me? Thanks in advance!
you'll need to save up for a bag and try asking around or looking on the internet for sparring partners.
You could try asking your father or someone to come outside and ask him to try certain moves on you while you learn to counter them. Or if he's up to it, ask him to spar you.
Weights are just supplements. You don't HAVE to have weights for strength training, you can easily do pushups, pullups, dips etc. HOWEVER, weights are great for isolation and if you can use weights then that's great.
Man, i really need some sparring partners...
anyone from shrewsbury, midlands, England that wants to spar with me? I just wanna spar so i can find my faults!
