Anyone get paid to take online surveys?

April 17 2005 at 3:32 PM

I found this site the other day:

http://www.yellowsurveys.com

They give you a free list of over 500 companies that will pay you to participate in online surveys.

Anybody ever tried taking surveys for cash? Does it really work? If so what are the best companies to join?

Yes, survey companies do pay

April 19 2005, 5:56 AM

Ofcourse they do pay..I made about handy 900$ in last 12 months by spending less than 1 hr a day.

Please find below some good sites. I have been paid by these sites so far -

1. http://www.surveysavvy.com/?id=1528492
They pay 40-50$ per month for just spending 1 hr a month
(Above link contains my refferral. So if you enroll through it, I'll earn 2$..:-)..)
I generally get two 30 min surveys a month from above site.

2. www.globaltestmarket.com

3. www.gozingsurveys.com

4. www.surveyspot.com

5. www.epoll.com

6. www.greenfieldonline.com

These are good sites to start with. You can also
earn 25$ just by enrolling to below mentioned site. They are similar to paypal..Since being a new site they are giving 25$ to any person that enrolls -

No, not all survey companies pay

July 14 2005, 6:14 PM

Not all survey companies pay cash. Many promise prizes, or for the most part, entries into a draw for amounts of $100.00 - $1,000.00. These draws may take place once per month or even every four months. Some draws promise payouts of up to $10,000.00. [At least what I've seen]
And, if you live in Canada, you are not eligible to participate in American opinion surveys. Go figure!

Annie
I fully agree with you
Canadian's do not qualify for a lot of the US paid on Line Surveys. Getting paid from some of these survey companies
is quiet a task.....BE ON GUARD

surveys

You had mentioned that Canadians do not get paid for the US surveys. It's funny though how the surveys go to your email and you fill out the survey forms and come the end " Sorry you don't qualify" Something should be done there because they do get their forms filled out but we LOOSE

Some people do quite well, but . . .

September 26 2005, 2:38 AM

I personally know a gal who's done as much as $300 in a month for paid surveys and mystery shopping. I made some nice pocket change when I was younger doing focus groups (around $40/session). However, it's pretty much a hit-or-miss proposition.

Whether you get picked depends mainly on what survey or focus group companies are looking for at the time.

Lots of work: little reward

October 23 2005, 3:49 PM

In June 2005, I signed up with www.surveyscout.com, and paid $40 for access to several hundred survey companies that pay/reward people for completing surveys online. I "thought" I had done all the necessary preliminary research, and I thought I knew exactly what I was getting into. I knew that I had to register with "at least" 100 survey companies (a long and extremely tedious task), if I wanted to see any cash whatsoever. I knew that I probably wouldn't make as much as all the "success stories" on the website claimed, but I figured that, even if I made $50-$100/month, I'd be happy with this small amount of extra spending money. So, you can see, my expectations were not high or unreasonable.

First, I should say that I live in Canada, and I was aware of the fact that I may not qualify for all of the 500+ opportunities listed on the website. I figured if I qualified for 1/2 I'd be okay. So, I spent 6 days (and many, many hours) registering for every survey company I qualified for, and in the end, I found myself registered with about 100 companies.

I started receiving survey opportunities immediately, and I soon noticed that "most" of the opportunities did not award cash or prizes but rather "chances" to win X amount of dollars in a monthly drawing. A few also offered "points" that you accumulate and redeem later on for stuff that, in my opinion, is nowhere near worth the time & effort. For example, on one site, you need to do nearly 100 surveys to earn enough points for a cheap looking travel pouch/wallet.

The vast majority of survey opportunities I get do not offer cash rewards. Many of the surveys have pre-screener questions, which take only a few minutes to answer. If you pass the pre-screener (maybe 50% of the time), you'll be passed on to the actual survey, which usually takes anywhere from 15-30 minutes. If you think about how much time this takes (and you're getting anywhere from 3-5 opportunities a day), it's really a lot of time & effort for basically no reward.

Thus far (after 5 months of filling out surveys), I've been screened for more than 200 sureys and actually completed 85. I've been paid $8 cash (one $5 survey, a few $1 surveys), and I haven't earned enough points on any survey site to exchange for prizes. I did some calculations and figured that I spent about 38 hours doing surveys, and earned about 21 cents an hour for my time & effort. If anyone thinks this is a worthwhile endeavor, go fot it! My sincere advice is that this is a HUGE waste of time, and I discourage anyone & everyone from getting sucked in!

Real Paid Surveys

October 25 2005, 9:01 AM

In response to the message above:
There are actually paid survey panels that send surveys on a regular basis. Your first mistake was joining survey scoout. You paid $40 for information that is free all over the net. And I'm sure half of the sites listed on Survey Scoutare not even real market research firms. Just sites trying to get you to buy something. Second, most of the top paid survey panels will not allow their affiliates to list them in paid databases. So more than likely you missed out on the most popular panels like Global Test Market, Survey Spot, and Gozing Surveys. Here is a link to about 30 of the top survey panels. These are all legitimate, real companies that will not spam you or sell your information.
