Some comments from the Board moderator re MLM and other matters

Hi everyone,

I have been going through some of the comments on the board and I want to thank everyone for participating in our discussions. I also wanted to make sure you are aware that I will remove some items at times because of the nature of the postings. At times people post comments that are totally unsupported and cite no facts for the comments. Normally I will check out any referenced websites in these postings in order to evaluate the comments made. If the comments are supported then the post will remain. If I can not find any facts supporting the comments then I may or may not remove the post. Sometimes people are very upset when they post things or are bitter about some experience they had. That is fine but if it is too inflamatory then I will remove it. I fully support posting of opinions about various aspects of home businesses, network marketing and related matters. But sometimes they can go too far or I determine they are purely advertisements or promotional material, which will definitely be removed. It doesn't happen often but I just wanted to let you know that it does happen.

I recently saw one posting that flatly stated that all of MLM (multilevel marketing/network marketing) is Internet Fraud. Now that may be a personal opinion by the individual but is not true across the board. MLM has been around for years even before the Internet became popular. Are there "MLM's" that are fraud? Yes, there have been those that have surfaced over the years. Like in any industry, there are the companies or individuals that will take advantage of the system. Most of these end up being illegal pyramid schemes that either close down on their own or are closed by legal authorities.

There are many MLM companies that have been around for years and have stood the test of time. Those like Melaluca, New Vision, Avon, Fuller Brush, SFI and others. Many of these companies were started before the Internet and then expanded to online business. I noticed postings about Juvio and Mach90. Juvio has been around for a number of years and is a valid network marketing business with valid services and products. Mach90 is merely a tool for building your Juvio business. You will find many people who are doing very well with some of these MLM companies and you will find those who couldn't make it.

I have been involved in online business for almost 15 years now and have been with one company for many of those years, SFI Marketing Group, and it is an MLM. SFI is a division of Carson Services, Inc., headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska USA. Founded in 1985, Carson Services has a long and successful track record in publishing and marketing. SFI itself was launched in 1998. Today, with hundreds of thousands of SFI affiliates in over 200 countries, it is believed to be the largest affiliate network in the world. SFI is the exclusive marketing arm for the IAHBE (International Association of Home Business Entrepreneurs) and Veriuni, a line comprised of nutritional, cleaning, personal care, pet care, telecommunication products, and more. You can get started for free and take a look at the business. If you are interested in taking a look at it just go here: http://www.homebizlink.com/sim.htm .

One of the problems I have seen over the years is that people go into some online business whether it be MLM or not, looking to make a lot of money without doing anything or spending any money. Well I can assure you that you cannot create a successful online business without spending some money. At some point you need to advertise in order to start building your business. And this is where many people become dissatisfied. They have read and heard all the hype about becoming rich overnight and in many cases this hype comes from those questional businesses that like to take your money and disappear. When they don't become rich overnight they get ticked off and declare all online businesses frauds. Well it takes work to build any business, I don't care if it is online or down the street from your house!

Well that is it for the moment. I will get off my soapbox. I would be interested in your fellings about this, so I look forward to your posts.

Thanks

Wow, I can't believe that no body responded

This is a great post. I am so tired of people calling MLM businesses pyramid schemes. The fact is that there are a lot of pyramid schemes out there. I get them in the snail mail, via email, and find them on the net everywhere. The way you can tell if something is a pyramid scheme is simple. Does it have a product? If there is no product, just a passing of money, then that is a pyramid scheme for sure. You mentioned several mlm companies that have great marketing plans such as Melaleuca, Avon,
SFI, these companies have been around for years and money can be made from them. It's like you said, many people simply don't want to work hard at getting people to sign up. Advertising is necessary, no matter what the business. Now, if you are willing to work hard, there are ways to advertise without spending money, but it takes time. If you want to spend less time, in my experience you have to spend more money.

If your interested in what I am doing to make $ online please feel free to email me for free information.
