"Why is the footage thing getting old, unless your selling the footage and then its fine to talk about it? Sure you will be selling that little clip and this is the reason why such a small clip was posted, because we know you would take it and sell a larger clip... What shame"
I don't care to put this footage on a DVD. What I am saying is that this talk of footage, like it really matters, is getting old. People have been holding off on footage for 2 reasons:
1. They hope that it will be worth alot of money in the future.
2. They want it for personal use, trusting the few others who own their own copies in good faith. With no intention of selling it at all.
FACT
If Game of Death footage was originally used and released from Bruce Lee's Death, there would be no talk of Bruce Lee footage today. But because it was hidden and scattered in documentaries for the next 30 years, the myth of Lee and footage grew to all this other stuff it is today.
Having said that - 30 years of documentaries and snippets - what makes you think you will ever see full length versions of these footages? Don't you think after 30 years it would have been purchased and used in documentaries by now? I'm sorry, but we can keep hoping for ANOTHER 30 years. But don't expect much.
POINT IN CASE
The Big Boss has gotten it's 7th DVD release, with the last having contributions by people who have the original mandarin cut. Tell me why they would release a 7th version with no new footage knowing where it exactly is?
All I am saying is that it is getting old. And is the only thing this genre has to hold onto in order to make the same thing sover and over again. It's getting old and expensive.
Personally, I believe SK and DT are the people in Reason #2. It's kind to share. Very thoughtful. But that's all we're going to see on that.
