Actually you do not start a sentence with "and". Any third grader can tell you that.
Historically, this has been the case - I was taught the same - but socially, it has become very common in modern usage and has now become the norm. Less common is the use of the word to begin a new paragragh, though I have seen that happen too.
And why not?
And by the way, for speech: "like for talking and stuff".
And for normal quoting: 'like this, which is nothing to do with speech'. |
